Annie Christmas was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. AC stood 6 feet, eight inches tall.
She was Queen of the Mississsippi River. AC was stronger than any man.

Once upon a time, there was a giant named John. (KN) He thought that he was too big to play with others. (AG) They say that when John was born, he was not a normal baby because he was really big. (FC) And, his dad and mom sold him because he was too big. (VM) The next day, John went with a blue cow (HG). But one afternoon, John met a friend named Josh. (JL)

Horror Movie Marathon

My brother had the TV on
a horror movie marathon.
He watched "The Blob," "The Thing," "The Fly,"
and then "The Brain That Wouldn't Die."
He watched "The Bride of Frankenstein"
and "Halloween: Parts Eight and Nine".
Then "Monsters From Beyond the Moon"
and "Creature From the Black Lagoon."
He stayed awake throughout the night.
His eyes are glazed, he's ghostly white.
He's looking like a nervous heap.
He's much too scared to go to sleep.
He's panic-stricken, pale as death.
He's shivering and short of breath.
So won't you tell me, anyone,
just how come he has all the fun?

Golden and red trees
Nod to the soft breeze,
As it whispers, "Winter is near;"
And the brown nuts fall
At the wind's loud call,
For this is the Fall of the year.
Good-by, sweet flowers!
Through bright Summer hours
You have filled our hearts with cheer
We shall miss you so,
And yet you must go,
For this is the Fall of the year.
Now the days grow cold,
As the year grows old,
And the meadows are brown and sere;
Brave robin redbreast
Has gone from his nest,
For this is the Fall of the year.
I do softly prayAt the close of day,
That the little children, so dear,
May as purely growAs the fleecy snow

It is a pleasure for us to welcome you to our Tiger Times Workshop Site.

Here, you will find the best thinking, reasoning, reading and writing of the students of MacGregor Elementary in the Central Region of Houston ISD.

Our student talents are in depth and diverse. Our students represent Magnet, Gifted and Talented, Bilingual/ESL and a range of various ethnic and cultural groups.

The topics for publication are listed in the Times Index, available here:

In our publication, we strive to demonstrate the key stages in best writing practices: 1) brainstorming (making mind maps and graphic organizers); 2) ideas; 3) voice and word choice; 4) sentence fluency; 5) conventions; 6) organization; and 7) presentation.

Student writing is therefore transparent, in that it shows these stages of the writing process. Editors share with readers the graphic organizers that formed the underlying structure of their work; they also share the original sequencing of their ideas, in an effort to model how good writing gets produced.
